Vietnam carrier offers free Bangkok flights to open Hanoi route

Private budget airline VietJetAir is giving away free tickets for its second international offering, Hanoi-Bangkok route, as well as for flights from Ho Chi Minh City to the Thai capital that began in February.
The promotion is valid for bookings made between April 10 and 20 for travel between April 15 and December 20 this year.
Hanoi- Bangkok service will begin June 1, with one flight per day departing from Hanoi at 10:50 a.m. and arriving in Bangkok at 12:40 p.m. The return flight will depart Suvarnabhumi airport at 1:35 p.m.
VietJetAir has been operating a daily round trip between Ho Chi Minh City and Bangkok since February 10.
The carrier said in a press release that it expects to make itself more favorable by flying to and from Suvarnabhumi Airport, the busiest airport in Thailand and the main hub for major Thai carriers, while many budget airlines are using Bangkok's other international airport Don Mueng.
There are seven carriers now offering flights between Ho Chi Minh City and Bangkok.
VietJetAir entered the market in late 2011 and is flying to ten domestic locations including Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Da Lat, Hue, Nha Trang, Hai Phong, Vinh, and Phu Quoc. Its new service connecting Ho Chi Minh City and the coffee town Buon Me Thuot in the Central Highlands will open May 20.
It has plans to fly to more international destinations and expand its current fleet of six Airbus aircraft to 15 by 2015.
